this thread is nothing to do with gary anderson joining another darts organization so keep to the thread
for the record gary is making far to much money to join the pdc, and agreed gary is by far the best in the world just now, even after a bad world championship, but if the other players want to play gary they will just have to join the bdo and take him on

Davie, don't even think about cancelling this as a result of a few people making their mouths go at the captain's meeting last night. There are plenty enthusiasts out there who are delighted to see top class players in the Wee County. You should be congratulated for bringing these players here, not castigated by a MINORITY of players and captains. You see now why I resigned, and don't go to captain's meetings, unless no-one else from my team is available???

Jim Sorry mate my hands a very much tied with this one, i need to be able to advertise the event in the local press as there is alot of money to be found to pay for it ( the paper has allowed me to have a section in the paper for it, but i dont see why i should move it from the darts section of the league as this involves alot of league players) i have not pulled the plug yet but dont see any other way to go , shame as we were close to sell out

Just a thought Davie, if the captains don't want you to run this on behalf of the league, cancel it, and rebook through the county, and leave it to the captains to explain to their players why they won't be invited. I'm sure we could get 16 super league players who would be interested in playing.

i think davie got the wrong end of the stick at the captains meeting.... everyone is in full support and appreciates your efforts to bring top class players to the wee county, the argument at the meeting was about getting league results and best darts in the paper, as often these are missed out. i think people are bringing the point up that the MIB are in the paper every week and some weeks the results etc are not, and it should be the results and best darts that take priority. everyone would love to see these exhibitions continue and long may they do so. many thanks to happy for his efforts in doing this

fair point john but until we buy a section in the paper i cant tell them what to put in and what not to, all i know this exhibition is costing alot of cash to put on and i need to advertise it to make it a sell out,
must disagree mate with me getting the wrong end of the stick i know what everyone was going on about, and if you think there was any support for the exhibition last night you were at a different meeting from me

please note - the exhibition is still on at the moment, but due to the captains meeting not allowing me to advertise it in the local press the plug may be pulled on this one, will keep you all up to date on here as i cant even cancel it in the paper
where this leaves the paper section i am not sure, in order to make sure the league results are in, its about all i can put in the section so expect a smaller section from now on,, and as i am trying to run a major open in the area in sept with no way of putting it in the local press without paying for it every week this now has a ? over it

Davie, a serious question for you. Who runs the league? The elected committee, or the captains? If it's the captains, why bother having a committee?

I can confirm what Davie said about the papers and whats put in them. When I was secretary in Stirling I was tearing my hair out ( I had some then you know ) about what they put in. You could put a league table in every week and you would be lucky if it was in paper twice a year, you could sit up late on the monday night writing good reports about the monday night, super league, counties and whatever you like but at the end of the day its the sports editor that chooses what goes in, indeed thats if it even makes the paper.

Just a thought on the growing saga. Coming from a county that didn’t even get a look in to the back pages of our local rag. Having to write basically begging letters to display even a snippet of some league and cup results. To have an advertisement showing that the likes of mardle, Anderson and robson are willing to come and play in the wee county will surely highlight to the non playing darts people within the county that darts is most certainly alive and well in the smallest county in Scotland. And lets face it the only reason people want the high check outs, lowest darts and 180s in the paper is to show off so why don’t they just get posted on this forum where people who actually play and appreciate darts will understand it a lot better.

:-/Reading this sounds like another great meeting . Why can't these people just play darts and concentrate on keeping teams in the league instead of nit picking on the great things happy is trying to do for our league. Always moaning but when they get the chance to vote for change then they all shut up because they know that they could never do as good a job themselves. Get yer heads screwed on and lets get supporting instead of bickering.
